RYERSON WOMEN'S FASTPITCH TEAM
The creation of the Ryerson Women's Fastpitch Team in 2015 was part of Ryerson University's vision to become one of the best university athletic programs in Canada. It provides female students of Ryerson University an opportunity to play fastpitch at the university level.
The team plays in the Ontario Intercollegiate Women's Fastpitch Association (OIWFA), against thirteen other universities in the province. The teams in the OIWFA play a sixteen game fall schedule plus playoffs for the top eight teams of the regular season.
The Ryerson Women's Fastpitch Team is designated by the university as a competitive club team and therefore does not receive direct funding from the school. Funding for the team is established through player fees, fundraising, sponsorships and grants.
The team is also a vehicle to advocate social and environmental issues and to lead by example. In 2019, our team became plastic free ..... no plastic water bottles can be found in our dugout. The team is committed to playing our part in eliminating plastic bottles from sports around the world. We are also supportive of the Global Climate Strike, World Mental Health Day, the LGBTQ+ community and the Jays Care programs.
